| | IMG Hand-Drumming Workshop every Monday
Beginners-I: from 7pm ~ 8pm [$5 per session suggested donation]
- Intro into West African, Afro-Haitian/Cuban Hand
Drumming. This workshop is geared mostly towards beginners, but is open to
intermediate level drummers who are looking for a relaxed setting in which
they can focus more on their sound and less on complicated rhythms. Several
rhythms are covered and the basic idea is to start to understand the
dialogues between the various parts in an ensemble setting. It is a very
slow paced workshop, but is on-going and continues to cover a broad amount
of material
Beginners-II: from 8:15pm ~ 9:15pm [$5 per session suggested
donation]
- Intro into West African, Afro-Haitian/Cuban Hand
Drumming. This workshop is geared mostly towards more beginning/intermediate
players. The structure is the same as the Beginning I workshop, but the
material is slightly more difficult and less time is spent in demonstrating
the rhythms. It is open to all levels of drummers. However, since less time
is spent stopping and re-demonstrating the rhythms, a beginner may feel a
little overwhelmed. An absolute beginner may have to stop and watch a few
times to get it, but that is perfectly OK!! Feel free to join in as you are
able.
