ISLAND MUSIC CENTERGROUP MUSIC CLASSES
Each semester we run evening classes for all ages and after-school classes that support school music programs and provide supplementary music education such as theory and sight-reading. Ensemble playing is a great way to benefit from your interest in music - the evening class semesters always finish with a recital and reception for all students. The Smart Strings and Brass programs are desiged for younger players, all other classes are suitable for all ages (teen through adult).

All-age Classes
Chamber Ensembles - starts Jan 19th
Open to all orchestral instruments, enjoy playing in a small chamber
ensemble (grouped by ability). Existing ensembles are welcome to join.
Prerequisites: Able to read music and basic skills on your instrument.
Tuesdays, 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

Flute Choir - starts Jan 19th
A blended “group” sound, focusing on tone, color, intonation, and
vibrato is the hallmark of flute choir. Sessions cover flute basics,
posture, breathing and technique.
Prerequisites: Able to read music and be familiar with the flute.

Fiddle Group - starts Jan 19th
Rosin up your bow! Explore and develop traditional fiddle style
technique. Learn by ear, and by note. CD and written materials provided.
For all ages, some familiarity with the Fiddle.

Music History, Theory & Appreciation - starts Jan
21st
Take a fascinating journey inside music and explore how sound really
works. Delight in listening to World Music, and peer into music’s
history.

Musicianship & Theory Rudiments - starts Jan 15th
Build your musical foundation by learning the basics of reading and
writing music. This course runs for 10 weeks and is good perperation for
the National Music Certificate Program music theory examinations. The
class is suitable for all ages.
Fridays, 4:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.

Tuition: $115 (10 one-hour lessons)
Digital Audio, Recording and Midi Classes
Learn how to use your PC for recording, sound design, MIDI music, how we
hear and process music and
more. Join our group of electronic music-makers. This class is run with
a small group on basis of demand - call if you are interested.
